9) To find:

=> probability of getting 53 sundays in a leap year.

Solution:

Total Number of weeks in a Non leap year=366 years => 52 weeks and 2 random days.

Let A be the event of getting Sundays in leap year.

A = { ( sat,sun); (sun,mon)}

n (A) = 2

Total possibilities= n (S) = 7

Therefore P (A) = n (A)/ n (S) = 2/7

10) x = 1,2,3

y = 1,4,9

To find:

Probability that the product xy of the two numbers selected will be less than 9.

Solution:

Number of possible outcomes for x is 1,2,3

n (X) = 3

Number of possible outcomes for y is 1,4,9

n (Y)= 3

Total outcomes = 6

Probability that product of x and y is less than 9;

=6/9 = 2/3

Answer:

To find:- Probability (x²< 2)

Total number of outcomes (random numbe x) = 5 (-2,-1,0,1,2)

To find the no. of favorable outcomes , find square of each outcome.

(-2)² = 4 ❌(not favorable)

(-1)² = 1 ✔️ (favorable)

(0)² = 0✔️(favorable)

(1)² = 1 ✔️ (favorable)

(2)² = 4 ❌(not favorable)

So, no. of favorable outcomes = 3

Probability (x²<2) = \frac{no.of favorable outcomes}{Total no. of outcomes}

Totalno.ofoutcomes

no.offavorableoutcomes

= \frac{3}{5}
