Answer:

The factors of 12 that can be the sum of two rolled dice are 2, 3, 4, 6, 12. There is 1 way to roll a 2 (1-1), 2 ways a to roll a 3 (1–2, 2–1), 3 ways to roll a 4 (2-2, 1–3, 3–1), 5 ways to roll a 6 (3–3, 2–4, 4–2, 5–1, 1–5), 5 ways to roll an 8 (4–4, 2–6, 6–2, 3–5, 5–3) and 1 way to roll a 12 (6–6). Thus the number of rolls producing a factor of 12 are 1+2+3+5+5+1 = 17.
