Problem 2
Once the steam that comes from the reservoir enters the turbine chamber, the steam turns the
turbine which is attached to a generator. The turning of the turbine induces a current of 50 A in
the generator. This generator produces an output voltage of 20,000,000 volts. What was the
resistance of the system? What is the power output of the system (in watts)?

Given info : The seam turns turbine which is attached to a generator. the turning of the turbine induces a current of 50A in the generator. this generator produces an output voltage of 20,000,000 volts.

To find : The resistance of system and the power output of the system in watts.

solution : induced current in the generator, i = 50 A

generator produces voltage, V = 20,000,000 volts

from Ohm's law,

resistance of the system, R = V/i

= 20,000,000/50

= 400000 ohm

power output of the system, P = Vi

= 20,000,000 × 50

= 1000,000,000 watt
