Problem 2: Sort the Confusion

A plastic equipment manufacturer has received some sample plastic pellets from a new vendor. (Plastic pellets are small granules generally with shape of a cylinder or a disk with a diameter of a few mm. These plastic particles are industrial raw material transported to manufacturing sites where "user plastics" are made by re-melting and molding into the final products.)

Since the vendor is quoting an attractive price, the manufacturer is tempted to shift to this new vendor. However, he's not certain about the quality of the pellets provided by this new vendor.

Part 1:

If you were working as a research assistant with this manufacturer, what kind of information would you like to seek from the pellet vendor to make a more informed decision about the quality of the pellets.

Part 2:

If you were provided three pellet samples (A,B,C) from the new vendor and three pellets samples (1,2,3) from the in-house stock, how would you go about comparing these samples to ascertain if they were of a similar nature?

1)plastic pellets may be tested on the basic of their colour and shape. some materials like polymaride can be cooled very differently durining production this it may result in crystellinity of the pellets.more crytelline nulons will be more opaque 2) would look for conducting ASTM (active standard test method)on the plastic pellets.
