Problem: (34) Calculate volume of water to be added 100 ml of 0.4 M solution of NaOH to
convert it into 0.1 M solution.

Problem: (35) what is molarity of solution prepared by diluting 250 ml of 0.4 m sulphuric acid
with 1000 ml of water.
Pls help me out

Answer:

1) Molarity=

V(solution)

n

M

1

=

V

1

(solution)

n

...(1)

M

2

=

V

2

(solution)

n

...(2)

From (1) and (2)

M

2

M

1

=

V

1

V

2

substituting the values,

V

2

=

0.5M

2M×100ml

V

2

=400ml

Hence, V

2

−V

1

=400ml−100ml=300ml

Therefore, 300ml of water is added to the solution.

2) Normality = Molarity × Valency factor of H

2

SO

4

=0.5×2 N

Normality =1N

Now,

N

1

V

1

=N

2

V

2

⇒1×1 L=N

2

×10 L

⇒N

2

=0.1N
