Let mother age = x years

Let daughter age = y years

ATQ,

4x = 9y--- (i)

also,

after 9 years,

x + 9 = 2(y + 9)

=> x- 2y = 9

x = 9 + 2y ----(ii)

Substituting (ii) in (i)

4(9+2y) = 9y

36 + 8y = 9y

y = 36 years

therefore, option (A) 36 years is correct
