Given :-

  • Robert's age is three times the sum of the ages of his sons..
  • After 5 year his age will be twice the sum of the ages of his two sons.

To Find :-

  • Find the age of Robert.

Solution :-

Let age of Robert = 3(y + z)

Let one son age be y

Let another son age be z

According to the question :-

After 5 years,

3(y + z) + 5

3(y + z) + 5 = 2(y + 5 + z + 5)

3y + 3z + 5 = 2y + 10 + 2z + 10

3y - 2y + 3z - 2z = 20 - 5

y + z = 15

☆ Age of Robert = 3(y + z) = 3(15) = 45

Hence the age of Robert is 45.
