First thing to notice that, in this figure there are 4 triangles (each of same dimensions) which makes up a quadrilateral (parallelogram).

For area -

Calculate area of single triangle and multiply it by 4.

        Area of right angled triangle = \frac{1}{2} × Base × Height

       = \frac{1}{2}×6×8

       =24 cm^{2}

       Total area = 24×4

                         = 96 cm^{2}

For perimeter -

Simply just add all the outer dimensions.

Perimeter = 10+6+6+10+6+6

                = 44 cm
