The forest law which was implemented by the colonial government deprived the nomadic and the pastoralists community of their customary rights and that meant a severe hardship for them. They could not cut wood for their houses, could not graze their cattle or collect food. Hunting and fishing became illegal. Some were tagged as criminal tribes and some were recruited in plantation
