Ammonium chloride sublimes upon heating but sodium chloride doesn't. When we heat the mixture, ammonium chloride sublimes and becomes a gas.

We heat the mixture. Then we collect the ammonium chloride in gaseous form and turn it into a solid back again. Our ammonium chloride is collected.

The leftover residue from the heated mixture is sodium chloride(NaCl) or salt. Our salt is also collected.

Hence, by the process of sublimation, we have successfully separated ammonium chloride and sodium chloride from its mixture.
