The process of improving the accuracy of a neural network is called Backpropagation. Another possible answer to this question is training. Training of neural network is the process of feeding it data samples after examining which it can improve its accuracy.

Now, to understand what back propagation does, you need to understand the weights in a neural network and to explain that, I’ll give a brief explanation of what a neural network really is. In layman’s terms, "a neural network is a layered network of artificial neurons in which each neuron of a layer is connected to every neuron in the next layer".

So, when a neuron receives an input (or, is activated), it sends signals to every neuron in the next layer, but the value it sends is multiplied by a respective weight of that each neuron. In that way, in the end, the neural network leads to a deduction or some decision.

In the beginning, just after the neural network is created, the weights are nowhere right, backpropagation is a process which is used by the optimization through gradient descent in which a feedback is propagated back and the weights are readjusted accordingly in order to increase the accuracy of the neural network.
