Ingredients

1 cup (230g) butter

2 cups (400g) sugar

3 cups (375g) flour (all-purpose/plain)

4 eggs, separated

1 teaspoon vanilla extract/essence

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (240 ml) milk

Steps


1 Cream together the butter and sugar.


2. Beat in the yolks of 4 eggs and the vanilla.


3. Sift and add flour, baking powder, and salt alternately with the milk, beating after each addition.


4. Fold in 4 stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour batter into a lightly greased and floured. Fill 2/3 full.


5. Bake for 1 hour at 375ºF/190ºC or until cake springs back when touched. Before removing from pan, allow cake to cool for 10 minutes. Place on a wire cooling rack to cool completely after 10 minutes.

6. Decorate. When cool, dust with confectioner's sugar. This cake is best served with pieces or fruit compote.

For making a one bowl chocolate cake you need:-

1) 2 cups white sugar

2) 1 3/4 or approx 2 cups of flour

3) 3/4 cup cocoa powder or u can add coffee powder+ dark chocolate.

4) 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and of same quantity add baking powder ( 1 1/2 tsp)

5) 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

6) 2 eggs (optional)

7) 1 cup milk (or add more)

8) 1/2 cup vegetable oil or u can use unsalted butter as well.

9) 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

◆ Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two nine inch round pans or depends on you. I mean which shape you want.

◆In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil or unsalted butter and vanilla extract, mix for 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer or blend whatever you have. If you want so you can add more milk for the consistency of dough.
Batter will be thin and should be even.
Pour evenly into the prepared pans

◆Bake 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven & if you are going to prepare in a microwave then bake for 15-20 minutes [In 600°] microwave mode.

Until the cake tests done with a toothpick. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

➡️If you want rich chocolate cake then add dark chocolate cubes in dough before baking.
