Plants prepare their own food by a process called photosynthesis. They use carbon dioxide and water for this process. The process by which a 
green plant turns 
water and carbon dioxide into food whenthe plant is exposed to light.Photosynthesis, process by which green plants and certain other organisms use the energy of light to convert carbon dioxide and water into the simple sugar glucose. In so doing, photosynthesis provides the basic energy source for virtually all organisms.
