Consumers have the right to seek redressal against unfair trade practices and exploitations.

The consumer movements in India has led to the formation of consumer protection councils.

- They guide the consumers in filing casein consumer courts.

- They can also represent the consumer in the consumer courts.

- they also receive financial support from the government for creating awareness among the people.

Under COPRA, a three-tier quasi-judicial system at district, state and the national level has been organised for redressal of consumer disputes.

- The district level courts deals with cases involving claims up to Rs 20 lakhs.

- The state level courts deals with cases involving claims from Rs 20 lakhs to 1 crore.

- The national level courts deals with cases involving claims above Rs 1 crore.

If the cases is dismissed in the district level courts we can appeal to the higher  courts. The judgement of the nation court is the final.

Thus, this act has given us the right to represent in the consumer courts.
