from 2 eqn

x=7-y

putting value of x in eqn 1

(7-y)y=6

7y-y²-6

-(y²-7y+6)=0

y²-7y+6=0

y²-y-6y+6=0

y(y-1)-6(y-1)=0

(y-1)(y-6)=0

y=1

y=6

since x=7-y

so, x=7-1=6

x=7-6=1

x=6,1

hence the number is 16 or 61
