During the hydrolysis of the 5th group halides, various products are obtained. In nitrogen and phosphorus case, it is a type of SN2 reaction. In NCl3 it occurs on chlorine in PCl3, it occurs on phosphorus. Water oxidizes the chlorine during the reaction with NCl3 but not in case of PCl3.
