Product owner and scrum master can be same person
Answers
It’s a simple answer: no. The reason for that is, think about what we are trying to accomplish in Scrum. The ScrumMaster is one individual who focuses on supporting the team and protecting the team. Trying to help them achieve a sustainable pace, help them as they try to deliver high quality, and really be a servant to the team. On the other hand, you’ve got the Product Owner. The Product Owner is focused on prioritizing, getting the backlog ready, and they’re asking for “more, more, more” when it comes to business value. So, those two can be in conflict, and that can be healthy. We figure out a negotiated balance. But when both of those voices reside in a single person, it’s really confusing to the team. You don’t have that check and balance and you’re going to end up with problems. So avoid that. Single Product Owner. Single ScrumMaster. Don’t blend them in the same person.
Hope it helps....

Answer:
Scrum Master is a person that handles the team. He has to ensure that everyone if following the scrum process.
The product owner, has to ensure that the product is being built by the whole team within a given time.
But no one, we will require two different individuals to fill the roles since their responsibilities are similar so they can be same person.
