Haneef Uddin who was a captain who hailed from Delhi and born on 23 August in the year 1974.  

He lost his father when he was 8 years old and 2 brothers Nafees and Sameer.  

His mother Hema Aziz was classical singer who worked at Sangeet Natak Academy and Kathak Kendra in Delhi.  

Haneef was science graduate from Shivaji college i.e. Delhi.  

Being a trained computer expert Capt Haneef was also a talented singer and a highly famous human being in his college.  

He was awarded as ‘Mr. Shivaji’ in college which moreover added to his fame during his student days.

Haneef was highly disciplined, responsible and ambitious and wished to join army.  

He overlook on other lucrative alternatives and join Indian Military Academy after graduation in 1996.  

Getting into the army was not easy for Haneef as he didn't have guidance from his family/friends as none of them moved through his path.  

Sheer determination and devotion he cleared the exam but gained skilled in different aspects of training.

Haneef Uddin was born on August 23, 1974 at Delhi.


When he was 8 years old, he lost his father. He had two brothers.


He was graduated from Shivaji College, Delhi.


He was also talented in singing as his mother Hema Aziz, a classical singer.


After his graduation, he joined Indian Military Academy on 1996. Later, on June 7th, he was commissioned into Rajputana Rifles, 11th battalion.


First, he was posted in Siachen region and then in Turkuk during Kargil war.


On June 6 1999, he led the team of 5 officers for the operation Thunderbolt, which is to capture the region from where the army can easily monitor the enemy troop.


On this operation at an altitude of 18000 ft, he risked his life and took over the safety of his men. But he was injured badly.


Finally, he died exactly on the same day he entered into the army two years ago.


But his body could not be recovered from Turtuk. Later, he was awarded with the gallantry award "Vir Chakra" for his bravery during the Kargil war.
