Let each part be 100
Profit on 1st 100
Loss on each of 3 parts = 20
Total gain/loss = 100-20-20-20 =40
%gain on original capital = 40/400*100=10%
Your ans 2.4 is doubtful

Answer:

Let he invest 100

And profit= 100x100%= 100, total 100+100=200

2nd invest= 200 and loss 20% of 200=40, tota=200-40=160. 3rd invest 160 and loss 20% of 160=32 and total = 160-32= 128.

4th invest 128 and loss20%of 128=25.6 total=128-25.6= 102.4.

In the total transection he invest 100 and got 102.4 and final profit = 102.4-100=2.4and profit percentage =(2.4x100)/100=2.4% answer
