Answer:

Given:

The profit obtained on selling smartphones is Rs. 2500/piece

The profit obtained on selling old mobiles is Rs. 900/piece

The net profit obtained by the shopkeeper during a period of a month = Rs. 17900

No. of android phones sold by the shopkeeper in 1 month = 5

To find:

No. of old mobiles sold by the shopkeeper in the period of a month

Solution:

So,

The profit obtained on selling 5 smartphones would be,

= Rs. 2500 × 5

= Rs. 12500

Let "x" represent the no. of old mobiles sold by the shopkeeper 1 month.

Now, according to the question, we can form an equation for the net profit so obtained during the period of a month, which is as follows:

[Profit obtained on selling 5 android phones] + [Profit obtained on selling x old mobiles] = [Net profit obtained]

\begin{gathered}\implies 12500 + (900x) = 17900\\\end{gathered}⟹12500+(900x)=17900

\implies 900x = 17900 - 12500⟹900x=17900−12500

\implies 900x = 5400⟹900x=5400

\implies x = \frac{5400}{900}⟹x=9005400

\implies \bold{x = 6}⟹x=6

Thus, the shopkeeper had sold 6 old mobiles during that period.
