Progga thinks of a number. She multiplies it by 5 then subtracts 9. The answer
is the same as 3 times the number plus 11. What number did she think of.

Solution :  

• Let the original be $x$ .
• According to given data we write condition as :
• $5x -9 = 3x + 11$
• Now , solving for $x$ we take terms with variable at LHS and terms with constants and RHS .

• Therefore ,  $5x -9 = 3x + 11$  

                             $5x -3x = 11 + 9\\2x = 20 \\x = 10$

Hence , the original number is $10$.
