Inert gases are not reactive at all and do not make any type of chemical reaction in normal conditions.

Names and uses of inert gases

• Helium: Used to fill balloons and blimps.

• Radon: A radioactive inert gas used to eliminate malignant growth in the human body. Used for medical purposes.

• Neon: An electrical pass under low pressure makes this gas shine and hence it is used in street signs.

• Argon: The filament in the bulb in covered with this as it helps in preventing oxidization of the material.

• Xenon: It can make intense light and hence is used in lasers, florescent bulbs and in flash during photography.
