Graphite consists solely of carbon atoms.

The reason graphite is a good conductor of electricity is because of the presence of delocalised electrons, as each carbon atom forms only three covalent bonds with three other carbon atoms.

The delocalised electrons are free to move throughout the graphite layers under the influence of an applied electric field :)
