Chemical Disaster Definition: A chemical disaster is the unintentional release of one or more chemical hazard substances that could harm human health and the environment.

Causes of Earthquakes - Earthquakes are caused by a sudden release of stress along faults in the earth's crust.

Causes of Chemical Disaster - HUMAN ERROR. A majority of the industrial accidents that occur every year are a result of human error.

Prevention of Earthquakes - Stay away from outer walls, windows, fireplaces, and hanging objects.

Prevention of Chemical Disaster - Avoid housing near the industries producing or processing hazardous chemicals, if possible.

Do's and Dont's

Earthquakes: Get under a desk or table and hang on to it ( Drop, Cover, and Hold on! ) or move into a hallway or against an inside wall.

DO NOT expect firefighters, police, or paramedics to help you. They may not be available.

Chemical Disaster: Keep a wet handkerchief or piece of cloth/ sari on your face during evacuation.

Don’t pay attention to the rumors and don’t spread rumors.
