Concept
The oldest and most popular method of food preservation in the world is drying. Most cultures around the world have access to drying technology, which is both straightforward and affordable. Jerky, powdered milk, dried beans and peas, boxed potatoes, dried fruits and vegetables, pasta, and rice are a few examples of dry foods. It's one of the oldest methods of food preservation to dry or dehydrate food. It extends their shelf life and maintains them safe for consumption. Food's nutritional content largely remains the same, but drying can degrade vitamins A and C. Additionally, when the food gets smaller and the nutrients get more concentrated, the calories can go up.

- Dried apple can be eaten dried or reconstituted (soaked in water, alcohol or some other liquid) for later use.
- Dried apricot can be dried either whole or in halves, with or without kernels.
- Banana chips are dried or deep-fried slices of bananas commonly found in Brazil, Indonesia (as kripik) and India.
