he promised to the people of Jammu and Kashmir that India will provide for the security of Jammu and Kashmir .in his speech in all India radio (AIR) ,he said that if there is dispute over the state ,then the people of state will decide with whom they want to live in. but as you know that there is majority of Muslims in Kashmir then obviously majority of people will favour our rivals. so this promise of jawaharlal nehru created mess for India .
otherwise Kashmir had to be a part of Indian consititution and would be provided with the same state policy and laws as there are for other Indian states.
but his promises kept hanging issues of Kashmir , and not added to the union of india with one government rule. thats why we are facing such problems these days over Kashmir issue because of his promises to the kashmiris and the making of separate constitution for Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that kashmir does not belong to india or pakisthan he said that it belongs to kashmiris i.e the people of kashmir . He said that it is a independent country
