When a ray of light, travelling from a source, strikes the surface of an object, the following situations can arise :
1. A part of light may pass through the object ( transmission of light )
2. A part a light may be absorbed by the object (absorption of light )
3. A path of light may be reflected by the surface of the object (reflection of the light)
It should be noted that all this phenomenon take place simultaneously.
The bouncing back of the light rays from the surface of an object is called reflection of light.
