Blood flows through out our body, which is carried by arteries. Our body needs oxygenated blood. So the blood has to be oxygenated by heart before pumped to the body.In our heart there are four chambers. Our heart pumps blood to the lungs through the auricles for oxygenation. The lungs will oxygenated the blood and through the vena cava it enters the heart. Then the heart pumps it to the body. As the blood passes through the lungs twice, it is know as double circulation.

the majority of mammals including humans also utilise a double circulatory system. this means we have two loops in our body in which blood circulates. one is oxygenated meaning oxygen rich and the other is deoxygeneated that means it has little to no oxygen but a lot of carbon dioxide
double circulatory system are important because they ensure that we are giving our tissues and muscles blood of full of oxygen instead of a mixture of oxygenated and deoxygeneated blood. while it may take a bit more energy than a single circulatory system this system Is much more efficient.
