It replaces o2 into co2 to extinguish the fire.
2: It makes a blanket of co2 around the fire.
So,it helps to reduce the amount of oxygen and the fire will be put out

CO2 fire extinguisher or Soda Acid fire extinguisher uses CO2 to put out fires. The CO2 expands quickly over the burning object which cuts off the Oxygen supply and after this it cools rapidly that decrease the temperature below the ignition temperature. The reaction that takes place in it--

H2SO4+NaHCO3--> Na2SO4+CO2+H2O
