Properties of Colloids. Colloid dispersions exhibit several properties. Among these are the scattering of a light beam directed through a colloidal dispersion. This is known as the Tyndall effect and its magnitude is due to the size and number of particles present.

Some Properties of Colloids are:-

1. A colloidal solution appears to be homogenous but it is heterogenous.

2. The particle of some colloidal solution can't be seen even through microscope.

3. The particle size of Colloidal solution is bigger than 'Solution' but smaller than 'Suspension'.

4. A particle of Colloidal can pass through filter paper. Hence, like 'Suspension', Colloidal solution can be separated by using filter paper.

5. The colloidal solution are quite stable. A particle of colloidal solution separated on keeping.

6. The colloidal solution scatter a beam of light and shows Tyndall Effect.
