The compounds created by ionic bond are called ionic compounds and the compounds created by covalent bond are called covalent compounds.
Properties :
1) ionic compounds are soluble in water and covalent compounds are not soluble in water
2. Ionic compounds have high melting and boiling point but covalent compounds have low melting and boiling point
3. Ionic compounds exist in solid state but covalent compounds exist in solid, liquid and gaseous state
4. Ionic compounds are good conductor of electricity in aqueous solution but covalent compounds are bad conductor of electricity.
