Definition of magnetic field line :-

A magnetic field line is the path along which a hypothetical free north pole would tend to move.

 \underline \bold \pink{Properties \: Of \: Magnetic \: Field \: Line - }

1. The magnetic field lines emerge from north pole and merge at south pole. However, inside the magnet, the direction of magnetic field lines is shown from its south pole to its north pole. Thus the magnetic field lines are closed curves.

2. Two magnetic field lines can never intersect each other at any point.

3. The tangent drawn on a magnetic field line at any point gives the direction of magnetic field at that point.

4. The degree of closeness of magnetic field lines give the relative strength of the magnetic field.

Answer:

magnetic field lines ;

a magnetic field is a change in energy within a volume of space.

A magnetograph can be created by placing a piece of paper over a magnet and sprinkling the paper with iron filings. The particles align themselves with the lines of magnetic force produced by the magnet

properties of magnetic field lines:

They seek the path of least resistance between opposite magnetic poles. In a single bar magnet as shown to the right, they attempt to form closed loops from pole to pole.

  • They never cross one another.
  • They all have the same strength.
  • Their density decreases (they spread out) when they move from an area of higher permeability to an area of lower permeability.
  • Their density decreases with increasing distance from the poles.
  • They are considered to have direction as if flowing, though no actual movement occurs.
  • They flow from the south pole to the north pole within a material and north pole to south pole in air.
