Propyne reacts with KmnO4 and H2So4- in order to produce pyruvic acid. When Propyne get oxidised  with KmnO4 in order to produce 1,1,2,2−tetrahydroxy propane. As the result of this reaction it looses molecules of water and results in production of pyruvic acid.
