Chief cells or Peptic cells (Zymogen cells) are usually basal in location in stomach wall and secrete gastric digestive enzymes as proenzymes or zymogens; pepsinogen and prorenin. Prorenin is secreted in young mammals. It is not secreted in adult mammals.
