Naming the planets in the solar system, began a long time ago wit
them. The Romans called the God of War, Mars. Jupiter, was the king of
the Gods. It is believed that he threw down huge pieces of thunderboles
from the heavens when he was angry. Therefore the biggest planet in
our solar system is named Jupiter. Juno was the wife of Jupiter and
therefore the Queen of Gods
Mercury was the messenger of the gods. He wore winged sandals on
his feet and could fly through the air very fast. Venus was the goddess
of beauty. Therefore Venus is our brightest planet.
