The short answer is because ALL living things will suffer to some degree. The amount of suffering will depend on the ability for the creatures and plants to adapt to the new uncharted environment. It will be a slow change so this will allow those things that can adapt to do so in a timely and ‘natural’ manner. I personally do not believe the situation is as grave as is reported by certain quarters. I believe the world is simply going through it’s normal cycles. By this I mean it has been getting hot and cold for millions of years. Remember the ice age? If we are seeing a change in the world then it is a natural event. We must accept the reality of this continual change. We used to have dinosaurs around some years ago. What happened to them? How did they meet their fate? All living things have the ability to change with changing environments. It is not always easy but change and adapt they do. Just think of anything living in Siberia and their extremely cold environments. It is possible that if we are heading into another ice age, many things will die or become extinct. Humans will be amongst the survivors as well as the stronger plants and animals. The crocodiles go way back. How did they survive and the dinosaurs and other things didn’t? I would not give it any thought as the change, (if any at all) will be slow and subtle.
