Environment protective values in Indian culture.

  • We worship mountains as a place of divine dwelling, such as Himalayas, Khasi hills in Assam.
  • We consider rivers as Holy as they are considered as source of life, and we worship them. eg. Maha Kumbh of rivers held on every 12 years.
  • Bishnoi people in Rajasthan live in peace with animals, they don't kill any animals, and females of this tribe even breast feed the motherless infant animals.
  • It is mentioned in vedas that " vruksho rakshita rakshitaha' which means if you protect trees trees will protect you.
  • There are festivals to celebrate the harvest and seasonal change like Baisaki, sankranthi, pongal etc.
