Proteolytic enzymes of pancreatic juice are trypsin and chymotrypsin.

  • Proteolytic enzymes are the enzymes that digest or break down protein into its simpler form ( dipeptides).
  • Pancreatic juice is secreted by the pancreas and the juice via the hepato-pancreatic duct reaches the duodenum of the small intestine.
  • Pancreatic juice contains digestive enzymes- Lipase, Amylase, nucleases, and proteases.
  • Pancreatic proteases are present in an inactive form and these are trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, and procarboxypeptidase.
  • Once these enzymes reach the duodenum, the action of intestinal mucosal enzyme enterokinase converts inactive trypsinogen into active trypsin which further activates other pancreatic enzymes.
