Hey

--> 'erg' is a CGS unit of work or energy while 'Joule' is a MKS unit of work or energy ...

--> For the conversation, we firstly convert 1J to MKS and then to CGS, and finally to erg...

Now,
[tex]1J = 1kg \ m^2 \ s^{-2} = 1000g ( 100cm )^2 s^{-2} \\ \\ = 10^7 g \ cm^2 \ s^{-2} = 10^7 erg \\ \\ =\ \textgreater \ 1 erg = 10^{-7}J[/tex]

Hope this helps ...

Hello

erg is the CGS unit of work

Work = F. s

where F is force

and s is displacement

taking their CGS values

Force = kg ms⁻² = 10³g x 10² cm x s⁻²

displacement=1m = 10² cm

1 joule = 10³ g x 10² cm x 10²cm x s⁻²

 I joule = 10⁷ g cm² s⁻²

1 joule = 10⁷ ergs

and 1 ergs = 10⁻⁷ joules
