20–20=25–25. (both side equal to zero)

or,4x5−4x5=5x5−5x5or,4x5−4x5=5x5−5x5

or, 4(5–5)=5(5–5)

or,4=5 [dividing by (5–5) both side]

or, 2+2=5

So, what it looks like we have here is a completely legit proof that 2+2 is 5.

Well, we don’t.

You see that second line?

Where the 4–9/2is put into a square root function?

Herein lies the problem.

You see, what you get is basically absolute value. Which cannot be negative.

And now witness me as I disprove a proof with a whole line of math:

(4−92)2−−−−−−−√=|4−92|=12≠−12

Jokes aside, I find it a pretty nice trick, and I see how a lot of people would fall for it. Not many spend our precious time proving obviously wrong and troll-ish mathematical proofs online wrong. It’s a useless yet beautiful talent one has to be born with.

Any time you see something on the internet and say to yourself: “This cannot be true”, it’s probably not.

So 2+2=5 is impossible.
