to find = final collision is equal to initial collision.

let ,

velocity before collision be u₁ and u₂

velocity after collision be v₁ and v₂

mass will be m₁ and m₂

in elastic collision, the both kinetic energy and momentum will be conserved .

so apply the law of  conservation of momentum.

              1/2 m1 u₁² + 1/2 m₂ u₂² =1/2 m₁ V₁² + 1/2 m₂v₂²

and,

             m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁+m₂v₂

we can write it as,

            m₁ (u₁²- v₁²) = m₂ (v₂² - u₂²)

            m₁(u₁ - v₁ ) = m₂ ( v₂ - u₂)

divide the above equations we get,

            u₁ + v₁  =v₂ + u₂

hence proved.
