let's consider an equilateral traiangle with each side 2a and each angle equal to 60°
draw AD perpendicular to BC
then ,
Triangle ABD is congruent to triangleACD
BD =CD = a
also anlge BAD=angleCAD =30°
AD = √AB square -BD square = (√ 2a)square -a square = root 3a
sin 60° = AD/AB= root 3a /2a = √ 3 / 2
