Statement:-

According to law of conservation of momentum,when external force is zero,then total momentum of the body remains conserved.

This means,the initial momentum of the body will be equal to the final momentum.

Mathematical proof:-

By the 2nd law of motion we know that-----

=>F=ma

=>F=mv-mu/t

=>Ft=mv-mu

When,the external force is zero----

=>0×t=mv-mu

=>mv-mu=0

=>mv=mu

Hence,proved.
