prove that 1/√12 is irrational ?

let us assume it to be rational then 12 is also rational
12 \times 1 \div  \sqrt{12}
=√12
since the product of rational is rational the product is rational
but this clearly contradicts the fact that √12 is irrational . this contradiction is because of our wrong assumption . so it is irrational
