Let 1/2root2 be ratonal no.
Therefore,

1/2root2 = p/q ( p and q are positive integers and co primes)
q= 2root 2 p
q/2p = root 2

Therefore both LHS and RHS are rational but it contradicts the fact that root 2 is irrational ..
It happened due to our wrong assumption
Therefore it is irrational

Hey mate! Here's your answer:
1/2*√2=√2/2(since any no. multiplied by 1 is the no. itself)
There's no common factor between √2 and 2 and also an irrational no. multiplied by a rational no. is always an irrational no. only.
Hence,1/2*√2 is an irrartional no.
