Let 2/√7 is a rational no.


2/√7=2/√7×(√7/√7)=2√7/7.......(by rationalising)


Now, 2√7/7=p/q.....(as rational no.it can be written as p/q )

2√7=7p/q
√7=7p/2q

see here LHS is irrational where as RHS is rational .


Therefore...it is a wrong Q
so , 2/√7 is an irrational number.
