Prove that 2 root 3 is irrational number

To prove = 2√3 is an irrational number.

Let us assume to the contrary that 2√3 is a rational number.

We can write it in the form of a/b where a and b are rational nos. and b ≠ 0

2√3= a/b

√3= a/2b

This shows that √

3 is a rational no.

But we know that √3 is irrational.

This is a contradiction to our assumption . Thus our assumption is wrong .  

Therefore,2√3 is irrational .
