(\sqrt{3} + \sqrt{5}  )^{2}

= (\sqrt{3})^{2} + (\sqrt{5})^{2}  + 2*\sqrt{3} * \sqrt{5}

= 3 + 5 + 2\sqrt{15}

= 8 + 2\sqrt{15} which is of the form x ± \sqrt{y
