Hence, 3+✓5 = p/q, where p and q are co primes.

Now, shifting 3 to the other side.

✓5 = p/q - 3

By LCM,

✓5 = (p-3q)/q

Now, we observed that the right hand side is a proper rational number where as the left hand side is an irrational number.
