Let 3 + √5 Is an rational number

➡3 + √5 = A / B

➡√5 = A / B - 3

➡√5 = A - 3B / B

Irrational = Rational

So , our assumptions is incorrect ,3 + √5 is an irrational number

hey mate!

here is your answer:

step by step explanation:

We know , that root 5 is irrational .

Let us assume that 3+root 5 is rational and 3+root 5 =a/b ,where a and b are two co primes.

Now, 3+ root 5 =a/b

root 5 = a/b-3

root 5 = a-3b/b

We know, that root 5 is irrational so, a-3b/b should also be irrational. But this contradicts our assumption that 3+root 5 is rational.

Thus , 3+root 5 is irrational.

hope it helped^_^
